About & Contact

about and contact

My name is Debbie and I currently live, work, and play in New Delhi, India with my husband Evan.

What is Meet Me Here & There?

Because of my job(s), I live, work and study in a lot of places (6 cities, 8 jobs, and 7 organizations over 10 years). I’m constantly working to find new communities without forgetting the old – through food, travel, work, and now this blog. Meet Me Here & There helps me document the new friends and old comforts I want to share with all my family, friends, and others working on job/city #2, 3, or even 12.

What do I do for a living?

I work for the World Bank where I support transportation development projects in South Asia – mostly India and Bangladesh (rural roads, bus systems – you name it). Previously I worked for the Asia Foundation, United Nations-Habitat, Navigant Consulting, and the Urban Institute.

Where do you live?

Last year I moved to New Delhi, India from Washington, D.C.

Where are you from?

I grew up mostly in Mill Valley, California (just north of San Francisco), but also went to middle school in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Where and what did you study?

I received a BA in economics from UC Berkeley, and a masters in city planning and international development from MIT.

Where do you travel?

I do the majority of my travel for work within India these days, but I usually spend my free time nesting in whatever city I currently call home.

  2. Debbie…this is great! your articles on career are super helpful! I don’t know if you remember me…I’m from the DUSP class of 2010, and you were our econ TA in 2008. Thanks for the advice!!!

    1. Hi Andrea! Of course I remember you! Too bad I will be forever associated with Econ at MIT for you, but I hope things are going well for you since DUSP. And thank you soooo much for the positive feedback on the career advice posts – I want to do more, just need to find time to write them out. Thanks again for the comment, totally made my week:).
