Chez Nini, New Delhi

My fellow foodie friend Tennille introduced me to to Chez Nini a few months ago, so we stopped in for a final lunch date before taking off for our respective summer breaks from Delhi (Thailand for her, US for me – I know, we live hard lives). Chez Nini is a great find in Meharchand Market, since most comparable in Delhi restaurants are jam-packed and in the middle of crowded market places. I heard Chez Nini is owned by a Canadian Indian chef who now resides in Delhi, and serves up a cosmopolitan menu with locally sourced ingredients.  It also has hands down the best baked goods I’ve tried in Delhi.  It’s nice enough to celebrate a birthday by ordering a bottle of wine, but casual enough that you could bring your book to enjoy an afternoon coffee and pastry.  But no matter what – save room for dessert.

{Table bread – carmelized onion foccacia}

{Spinach and chicken “crepe” – somewhere between an eggroll and a taquito, but totally worked}

{Pickled beet salad}

{Croque monsieur, on a home-made english muffin}

{The star of the meal: salted-caramel chocolate tart}
